Unsubscribing All Dialog Promotional Texts

Updated: Tags: #Spam

This post is only valid for customers of Dialog in Sri Lanka.

Everyone dislikes spam texts1, Sri Lanka has an issue with data-brokers and data protection issues, as it was recently evident by the influx of unwarranted political messages for the general election 2024.

I digress. But there is a simple solution to knock out a bunch of these messages if you are a Dialog consumer. It was much more simpler than expected.

Most are aware of how to unsubscribe via 9010 with BL <APP NAME> which allows you to block an company/provider.

One day with some dumb luck I sent a BL All to 9010 and realized that you’re able to lock out all promotional texts.

That was an easy win, granted this does not mean you’ll be spam free. But this will ensure any party using Dialog’s promotional message system will not reach you.
