Designing and building an IEC61508 and SIL4 safety system for a command and control system which facilitates safe access to railway tracks using IoT remote switchable blocking devices. As a software engineer in the team my duties included:

• Designing and developing a lightweight MQTT RPC Protocol for field device communication using Protobuf.
• Engineering a PKI solution with dynamic certificate enrolment for field devices, in accordance with TS 50701 standards.
• Programming robust command and control software in Golang with extensive testing using testcontainers.
• Implementing data warehouse with TimeScaleDB, Apache Airflow and Metabase.

Architecture and leading development of Workflow SaaS for Planlogic Australia — a B2B platform between financial advisors and paraplanners to accelerate the outsourcing process and increase productivity and accuracy. This platform was used by 150+ financial advisors across 62 practices to streamline the advisory workflow process.

• Design and ownership of IaC and DevOps, ensuring that outsourced teams are able to innovate with minimum friction.
• Interfacing with multiple outsourced engineering teams to get business requirements implemented.
• Implementing automated monitoring with Azure Monitor and Azure Log Analytics.
• Integrating with legacy business process tools (Monday.com, emails) using messaging infrastructure.
• Designing and implementing an analytics solution for client-facing and internal users using analytics proxies and Azure Data Factory.
• R&D on implementing a real time financial projections engine using TypeScript.

Member of the Banking and Financial Services team, building an Open Banking integrator which allows banks in the EU to gain conformance with the PSD2 standards. Some highlights:

• Helping gain OAuth open banking conformance for financial grade API security profiles.
• Designing and implementing a conformance suite for Data61 Australia to assess API compliance and security standards.
• Improving developer experience internally using containerization and CI to improve team productivity and accuracy.
• On site go-live support for our partners in the UK to make the integration with the core banking services go smoothly.

Joined YAMU as a software engineer to work in the areas of web development and mobile app development.

• Migrating vanilla PHP sections of the site to Laravel, and MySQL queries to optimized Eloquent ORM queries with caching.
• Re-designing the modern YAMU interface using tools such as SCSS and gulp for JavaScript bundling, with other methods such as lazy loading for optimum performance.
• Mobile application development with React Native to introduce new features into the YAMU cross platform iOS and Android apps.
• Developing internal utilities to interface with Slack and Google Analytics.
• System administration work related to the LEMP stack and other services like Supervisord and SphinxSearch.

Kaveen is one of those special leaders that makes the startup grind rewarding. He is strategic, insightful and brings deep, hands-on technical experience. He is of the most talented and well rounded individuals I have worked with in my career. Over the years, I found Kaveen consistently kept his objectives in line with business needs. Any company that hires Kaveen will secure a leader that is highly respected not just by his peers, but his direct reports as well. I can’t recommend anyone more than Kaveen for a technical leadership position.

Kaveen is an outstanding engineer who is having a vast knowledge from software design to implementation which can observed rarely from his age group. He’s a very talented and passionate team mate in WSO2 Open Banking team who has very good coding knowledge, good analytical skills with very good commitment capability and very positive attitude on taking challenges. He contributed on providing his ideas on making WSO2 OB solution to be compatible with specifications as open banking UK, Australia Consumer Data Standards and Berlin Nextgen PSD2 and also to make the solution a better one.

Same time he showed good leadership skills with mentoring and guiding colleagues and also driving some of the complex feature implementations. And also he’s a very good writer and contributed on publishing multiple articles and webinars on his gained knowledge.

He’s a very valuable and trusted team player who’s easy to work with and who will put a lot of value for the team. I wish him all the best for future endeavours!

Kaveen joined our team of YAMU as part of his industrial training. From his first day on the job, Kaveen proved his deep understanding and love for the craft of software engineering. He was more knowledgeable than some of the more experienced, but was always humble enough to learn and take on suggestions.

By the end of our time working together, Kaveen had mastered not only the Laravel platform that powered our website, but also React Native and our mobile application. He was playing a very important role in the team, and his initiative and creative thinking led to a lot of cool new features being developed at YAMU, including user reviews and ratings.

As Kaveen finishes his BSc and steps into the job market, I cannot recommend him enough. He is a smart, innovative and driven engineer, with a very broad scope of interests and the habit of researching newer and better ways of solving problems. He would be an asset to any organisation that is lucky enough to get him onboard.
